Shannondale Farm is proud to introduce our approved Oldenburg stallion, SURE HIT.

Sure Hit is a son of the sensational 1999 German national champion stallion Sandro Hit, currently one of Europe's most popular young dressage sires. Sure Hit's dam, the Elite State Premium mare Tettora, is a daughter of the legendary Furioso II, sire of over 80 approved stallion sons and over 200 State Premium daughters. Of special note is the fact that Tettora represents an incredible FOUR straight generations of State Premium mares, giving Sure Hit a depth of quality in the pedigree rarely seen even in Germany.

We are also proud of the fact that Sure Hit was bred by Mr. Heinz Luers of Westerstede, Germany, breeder of Lisa Wilcox's Olympic mount, Relevant.

Sure Hit was approved for breeding in November 2002 at the Oldenburg stallion licensing in Germany. He put in very solid performances at both his preliminary and final stallion evaluations in Oldenburg, impressing the licensing commission and spectators with his three very good gaits, excellent balance and elasticity, lovely jumping technique, and calm and unflappable mind. Of the nearly 400 stallion candidates presented to the licensing commission in October and November, Sure Hit was one of only 33 deemed worthy of a breeding license.

After the final licensing event, a highly respected German horseman commented that Sure Hit is especially noteworthy in that all three of his gaits are so very correct and that he has exemplary use of the hind leg, a trait often lacking in many of today's dressage horses. Just as impressive is Sure Hit's wonderful character - he is very gentle, kind, and trusting, with an extremely willing and cooperative temperament.

Sure Hit attended his 70-day Stallion Performance Test in Germany as a 3 year old. He finished very respectably in a testing dominated by 4, 5 and even 6 y/o stallions, and placed 4th of 11 stallions in his age group. Despite having quite a bad cold during the crucial guest-judge phase of the testing, Sure Hit successfully absolved the test, earning 8s for walk and trot, 9 for canter, and a perfect 10 for character. He has now completed all requirements for lifetime breeding approval by the German Oldenburg Verband and its North America division, The Oldenburg Horse Breeders' Society. He is also approved by The Westfalen Verband / Westfalen Horse Association for Westfalen-registered mares.

Sure Hit is an exciting new option for North American sporthorse breeders, and should cross equally well with warmblood and TB mares. His first foals have started to arrive, and are reported to be elegant and refined, with lovely conformation and movement.
