Feb 27, 2010: GDCTA sponsored GIL MERRICK SEMINAR Gil Merrick brought his MASTERY Course "How to Live Your Equine Life with Ease" to Shannondale Farm on February 27th, 2010. The participants of this course worked with him in an intimate group to identify ways each of us can structure our lives efficiently and successfully. Equestrians have the additional need to work their lives around their horse habit. The course identified Highly Effective people's habits and examined their applications. Organization skills and mental preparation were arranged in a accessible layout to meet the equestrians needs. Many participants said they found solutions for problems in all aspects in their lives, especially in their careers. Gil received rave reviews from everyone and plans to have a follow-up session in the near future. Many thanks to LISA SEGER INSURANCE AGENCY for sponsoring the course. Lisa and John Seger also hosted a fabulous Italian dinner that evening and we celebrated David's birthday. It was a great day all the way around! |

Oct 15th CITY OF MILTON council electorate detates. On October 15th, the City of Milton council member candidate debates were held at SHANNONDALE FARM. Local residents and concerned citizens came out to hear the candidates reply in a Q&A session organized by ACCESSMILTON.ORG. Some of the questions seemed a bit “softball” in approach according to attendees, but everyone was interested in the answers given. Local businesses sponsored the event; Hunter’s Tree Farm, The Barn Wine Shop, Philly Pretzel Company, Subway Sandwiches, and Element Coffee Shop, and donated goodies to the gathering in the lounge to make an entertaining social event as well.

Debbie McDonald Clinic Sept 26-27, 2009.First Level through Grand Prix were represented in a varied group of dressage riders at Debbie McDonald’s Clinic in September. She remarked how wonderful it was to see professionals and amateurs from different programs cohesively together focusing on good riding. Each horse/rider combination benefitted from her techniques and all left the arena with better quality than when they entered. Different soluctions were offered for each pair that rode for her based on the problems presented. The auditors were most impressed with Debbie personally being down-to-earth and a positive force in the community as a whole. She has a 100% satisfaction rating at Shannondale Farm from all who have attended her clinics and had the priveledge to be under her guidance.

L Program w/ Gary Rockwell(O). The 3rd section of the L program was piloted by Gary Rockwell, Olympic Judge, with the emphasis on Collected Marks in the Dressage Test. The lecture was filled of examples and explanations of how these marks are defined and why horse/rider combinations receive the scores. He also explained how the scores could come up and how they could be worse based on examples shown. The materials USDF provides for this program were extremely informative for future judges, competitors, and trainers to gain insight into how judges reflect upon each performance. Gary Rockwell received positive reviews from the attendees as well!
